02/07/2012 Cyclocross Race Nets $7k For Special Olympics During the February 6th Hyattsville City Council meeting, MABRA cycling club Route 1 Velo and Hyattsville bicycle shop Arrow Bicycle presented a $7,000 check to the Prince George's County Special Olympics. The club is real proud of how the city has embraced the event and that the MABRA community can support such a great cause. 08/02/2011 Route 1 Velo And Arrow Bicycle Take Part In National Night Out Against Crime Route 1 Velo club members, along with Arrow Bicycle and area law enforcement agencies, will once again take part in Hyattsville's National Night Out Against Crime in Magruder Park. The club will gave away 75 helmets to area kids as well as conducting bike safety checks, and will hold a "bike rodeo" to promote bike safety. Please come out and take part in this event. 7/26/2011 2011 Hyattsville Cx Route 1 Velo is proud to announce that we will present the 3rd annual Hyattsville Cyclocross Race on Sunday, October 9th, 2011 at Magruder Park in Hyattsville, Maryland. The park, which features multiple playgrounds and indoor restrooms, is only 6 miles from the U.S. Capitol, just a 20 minute bike ride from Capitol Hill. As in the previous two years, proceeds from the race will benefit Prince George's County Special Olympics. Racers who buy Hyattsville CX pint glasses will help out a good cause and get to enjoy a tasty post-race beer. Each pint glass purchase comes with one free fill-up on race day. In the last two years we raised $8,500 for the Special Olympics program and are their single biggest contributor. For the 2011 edition, Hyattsville CX has been chosen to be part of the MABRAcross Super 8 Series.
